This module explains how the Essay forms, the Self-Diagnostic Referral forms, and the Parent Note in the Resource Guide were originally used. These forms were used before the eliciting procedure was developed. This module shares how to handle a situation in which a young person refuses to complete an Essay form. Authority is used but without coercion. An approach is shared about calling parents. The module also shares what to do when an Essay form is no longer effective. How and when to use a school’s regular office referrals are also explained.
