The key to successful classroom management is to teach and practice procedures for everything the teacher wants the students to do. In essence, classroom management has to do with making instruction efficient—and this is the teacher’s responsibility. The more effective teacher’s classroom management, the fewer discipline problems will occur.

On the other hand, discipline has to do with impulse control and is the student’s responsibility. A successful discipline approach attends to this challenge.

The vast majority of schools rely on rules. If a student breaks a rule, the immediate reaction is to enforce the rule. This mindset automatically puts the teacher in the uniform of a cop, a policeman who enforces rules. Teachers do not enter the profession to act as police. The program offers a much more effective approach.

The first phase of the course shows how to improve classroom management. This applies in all classrooms. The second phase of the course shares three universal principles that are critical for success in any relationship. The third phase, The Raise Responsibility System, is the discipline system that is applicable with anyone from ages 2 to 92. The last phase has to do with people understanding the difference between “internal” and “external” motivation and continually reflecting their own motivation between these two. This is applicable at any age.
